Support for Anxiety and Overthinking

If anxiety is making it difficult to relax, think clearly or feel in control, you do not have to manage it alone. AK Wellbeing offers confidential online anxiety counselling for adults in Leicester, across Leicestershire and throughout the UK.

What can anxiety feel like?

Anxiety can affect people in different ways. You may feel constantly on edge, find it difficult to switch off or worry about situations that others appear to manage easily. Sometimes anxiety has an obvious cause, while at other times it can seem to appear without warning.

Common signs of anxiety

Anxiety can affect your thoughts, emotions, body and behaviour. You may experience:

  • Persistent worry or a sense that something bad may happen
  • Feeling restless, tense or unable to relax
  • A racing heart, tight chest, dizziness or an unsettled stomach
  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
  • Problems sleeping or waking with anxious thoughts
  • Avoiding people, places or situations

How can anxiety affect everyday life?

Anxiety can make everyday situations feel more difficult than they once did. You may begin avoiding social occasions, putting off decisions or needing reassurance from others. It can affect your confidence, relationships, work and sleep, leaving you feeling exhausted or unable to enjoy the present moment.

How can counselling help with anxiety?

Counselling offers a confidential space to explore what may be contributing to your anxiety and how it is affecting your life. Together, we can begin to recognise patterns, understand possible triggers and develop ways of responding that feel more manageable. The aim is to help you feel more secure, self-aware and able to cope when anxiety arises.

My approach to online anxiety counselling.

My work is rooted in person-centred counselling, which means you will be listened to without judgement and supported at a pace that feels right for you. Where helpful, I may also draw on CBT and Gestalt tools to help you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, physical reactions and behaviour, and explore more manageable ways of responding to anxiety.
